Job Description


The Training Coordinator position provides support to ensure the training development needs and requirements are met across the facility. This position coordinates all training efforts to ensure consistency and accuracy of the training system between all departments.


The Training Coordinator reports directly to the Training & Quality Manager.  Depending on the training need, they may also take direction from the various Department Managers throughout the facility.


  • Conducts classroom and hand-on training for new and existing employees on key topics, such as safety, fork lift, aerial lift, and equipment specific materials.
  • Collaborates with the operations team in the development of training materials including, SOP’s, Task Lists, Equipment Identification Sign-offs, troubleshooting guides, and equipment manuals.
  • Administers the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure:
    • Training records are up to date
    • System issues are resolved
    • Training plans are properly updated and assigned with organizational changes
    • Training records are entered and credited
    • Training documents are developed, maintained, and audited for accuracy
    • Annual training is accurate, assigned, and progressed tracked through the year
  • Develops and manages annual review process for SOP’s.
  • Ensures compliance to annual facility training requirements, such as safety training (OSHA).
  • Coordinates additional safety trainings, such as CPR/First Aid/AED
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with external training suppliers.
  • Assists in managing the SafetStart system:
    • Ensures SafeStart materials are available
    • Schedules annual classes
    • Coordinates events
    • Instructs courses
  • Adheres to developed training system, auditing compliance and providing feedback.
  • Responsible for overall coordination of new hire orientation and training, including:
    • Scheduling of courses and instructors
    • Ensuring and tracking course completion
    • Monitoring test scores and communicating issues with Department Managers
    • Soliciting feedback and observations from instructors
    • Leading Plus/Delta sessions for continuous improvement
    • Interacting with outside training providers, such as Southwest Community College, for new hire and quarterly training requirements
  • Oversees the schedules and activities in the Training Center, including:
    • Resolving of schedule conflicts
    • Addressing housekeeping or maintenance needs
    • Assisting in equipment functionality and reliability
  • Conducts quarterly meetings with the Department Managers on training needs, including assisting in generating timelines and action plans for completion.
  • Presents training information, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures to ensure understanding of material.
  • Coordinates any cross department training throughout the facility.
  • Generates any weekly or monthly training metric reports, as well as special reports, as needed.
  • Responsible for record retention of all training records, both electronic and conventional.
  • Responsible for BMS accuracy and updates
    • Works with department owners on revisions
    • Assists in the coordination of ISO audits
  • Completes other duties, as assigned.

  • Associates or Bachelors degrees in Training or Business preferred
  • Experience of 1-3 years in a Training Support/Coordination positions or a similar role preferred
  • Experience with forklifts and forklift training is preferred, must be willing and able to become and Ives Certified Instructor
  • Computer skills/experience: Microsoft Office, Learning Management Systems, training systems, working with data bases
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with various levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, collaborate, and lead others
  • Must have the ability to identify needs, assist in resolution, and correct root cause
  • Demonstrated aptitude to learn new programs and systems
  • Proficient in time management and organization
  • Must be self-driven, motivated, and strive for continual growth and improvement
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet business needs
