Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Scarborough converting facility. Responsibilities will include managing Converting Shift Supervisors and Maintenance staff and ensuring production demands are fulfilled in a safe and efficient manner.

Accountabilities

  • Manage and execute daily activities of production personnel to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the Scarborough facility
  • Ensure that safety methods and procedures are followed within the department to assure compliance with Kruger policies
  • Analyze and assess short-term and long term action plans for the continual improvement of the department to meet maximum operating efficiency.
  • Provide direction and coaching to the shift supervisors in the management of employee performance and administration of corrective action where appropriate
  • Responsible for maximizing operating efficiencies, analyzing and solving machine downtime causes, eliminating waste, maintaining raw material usage, performing root cause analysis establishing standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure that production facility is in compliant with all government and safety regulations
  • Control operating costs at or lower than budget
  • Coordinate with other departments as needed to ensure that adequate raw materials are maintained for continued production
  • Review production schedule and make appropriate changes as necessary to meet production demands
  • Oversee the maintenance department and ensure that equipment functions in an efficient operational condition
  • Provide effective labor relations for the department and help resolve any employee issues or concerns that may arise

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field or relevant work experience
  • 5 years Leadership experience, preferably in a converting area or paper industry and/or related industrial leadership
  • Communicates effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Proven complex analytical skills as well as ability to develop sound recommendations and solutions
  • Demonstrated accountability and responsibility for independent judgment and successful outcomes
  • Computer literacy, with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP or related similar software
  • Consistent track record for executing performance objectives an delivering results
  • Maintaining high energy as well as a pleasant and professional demeanor
