Mill Maintenance Manager

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Mill Maintenance Manager is responsible for all aspects of maintenance across all departments in the mill, including providing leadership, professional direction, and strategic guidance/planning.

Job Duties:

  • Organize, direct, and oversee the ongoing operations of the Maintenance Department, productivity, policies/procedures, standards in all maintenance department areas
  • Promote a safety first culture throughout the maintenance team, ensuring compliance with all health and safety initiatives and regulations
  • Oversees the Maintenance Supervisory team and their departments, mentoring them and providing support and coaching as needed
  • Performs performance evaluations with direct reports and collaborates with HR on performance management
  • Works closely with other departmental managers to ensure their maintenance needs are met and any issues are addressed in a timely manner
  • Drives mill-wide Maintenance initiatives, focused on Preventive & Predictive Maintenance, not reactive, ensuring the long-term efficiency and reliability of our manufacturing processes
  • Manages the Maintenance budget for the mill, establishing priorities and resource delegation
  • Coordinating work with outside inspections, providing project management, ensuring safety of personnel, and performing other duties as required
  • Working closely with HR on all recruitment activities for the Maintenance department, participating in interviews, candidate site tours, and hiring decisions
  • Drive innovation and champion continuous improvement and performance improvement

Job Requirements:

  • University degree/technical diploma or Journeyperson trades certification in a relevant field
  • 10-15 years’ leadership/supervisory experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment (experience managing in a unionized environment is an asset)
  • A proven ability to provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance department
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

The starting range for this role is $145,000 to $170,000 or higher, depending on your experience.
