Job Requirements of Paper Mill Operations Lead:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical etc.), Pulp & Paper Science or related field
- Minimum of 5 years leadership in a manufacturing environment, preferably tissue paper manufacturing experience. Experience managing a group of Unionized employees is an asset.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coach, teach, and manage people.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills (technical and other).
- Proficient computer skills (including MS Office).
- The ability to demonstrate fundamental economic skills and thinking.
- Demonstrated operational results showing year-over-year improvement. Must have work experience showing leadership capabilities to move the organization.
- Planning, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated technical tissue paper making knowledge and skills ideal.

Paper Mill Operations Lead

Reporting to the Paper Mill Manager, the Paper Mill Operations Lead is responsible for one of our Paper Machines, including safety, compliance, productivity, and cost. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership throughout the mill to drive improvements on the Paper Machine and to create real long-term value for the mill and for Kruger Products.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational group consisting of hourly team members on the Paper Machine.
- Provide leadership through effective utilization Lean Manufacturing and World Class Leadership.
- Lead the drive for improvement in all areas of Operations Excellence including compliance, environmental health and safety, reliability, production, costs, quality, and capital projects.
- Drive improvement in safety behaviors, systems and results to reduce risk resulting in an injury free machine, department and facility.
- Lead the machine and department to achieve and maintain compliance with Mill and Kruger Products Safety Compliance Standards.
- Drive reliability improvements on Paper Machines to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operating costs on the machine.
- Learn and apply the Reliability elements to drive results.
- Lead and develop team members to improve capability and performance.
- Utilize performance reviews to drive improvements.
- Lead the development, prioritization, and implementation of a long term improvement strategy (people, processes, equipment and capital) for Paper Machines.
