RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Superintendent to lead and optimize maintenance operations at our New Westminster plant. We are looking for a proactive leader with strong problem-solving skills, a commitment to safety, the ability to drive teams through engagement, demonstrates courage, inspires confidence in others, and consistently makes quality decisions. In this role you can expect to:

  1. Maintenance Operations:
  • Utilize CMMS to track KPIs, plan, schedule, and execute maintenance tasks, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgets.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, code specifications, and respond to service requests for electrical problems.
  • Maintain electrical systems of varying sizes and complexities, providing reliable power and equipment functionality.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of E&I Supervisors, engineers, electricians, and instrument technicians providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee hiring, succession planning, and performance management, including semi-annual and annual employee reviews.
  • Set team and individual KPIs, aligning them with long-term departmental and organizational objectives.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations by leading and promoting a strong safety culture within the maintenance team.
  • Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of safety programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  1. Project Execution:
  • Collaborate with field teams (supervisors, electricians, and instrumentation technicians) to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Lead management of change for the team when necessary, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  1. Financial Oversight:
  • Support financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and implementing corrective actions.
  1. Substation Support:
  • Provide support to Maintenance and Engineering for substation operations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  1. Vendor and Technology Management:
  • Build and maintain relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to stay updated on technological advancements and best practices.
  • Provide support for IT/OT systems and address electrical obsolescence challenges.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years in Electrical Maintenance, preferably in the pulp & paper, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sector.
  • Education: Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, reliability best practices, and industrial equipment.
    PLC and Delta-V experience is an asset.
  • Safety-Driven: Demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace safety and ensures strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures among employees.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and process optimization.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Change Agent/Management: The ideal candidate will excel at communicating the vision, gaining buy-in from stakeholders, fostering collaboration across departments, and maintaining a continuous improvement mindset

The starting range for this role is $110,000 to $135,000 or higher, depending on your experience.
