Instrumentation and Control Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Red Seal Instrumentation & Control Technician to join our maintenance operations at our New Westminster plant. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of process control principles and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems. In this role you can expect to:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Install, calibrate, and maintain process instrumentation and control systems, including transmitters, sensors, valves, and controllers.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose instrument and control system malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on instrumentation systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Work with PLCs, DCS systems, and other automation technologies.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to improve system performance and reliability

Safety and Compliance:

  • Document all maintenance, repair, and calibration activities accurately and thoroughly.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.

Workplace & Professional Development:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in after-hours support, as needed.
  • Stay up to date on the latest instrumentation technologies and best practices.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • Red Seal Instrumentation & Control Technician
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge process control principles and instrumentation the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose instrument and control system malfunctions. PLC and DCS programming and configuration is an asset. Expertise in pressure, temperature, level, flow, and analytical devices. Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Safety-Driven: Demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace safety and ensures strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures among employees.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and process optimization.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

Compensation:

  • Base payrate of $48.66/hour + shift premiums
  • Extended Health Benefits (after first 40 days)
  • Safety boot allowance
