Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Paper Mill Manager, the Maintenance/Process Lead is responsible for maintaining the Paper machine, stock preparation area, effluent system and chemical systems in base condition supporting the delivery of quality product at budget production rates. The Maintenance / Process Lead works directly with the Line Centric Team and indirectly with the Maintenance, Engineering, Converting, Utilities, Mill Supervisors and Product Development team.

Job Duties:

  • Advocate for priority work on the asset to ensure the right work is completed at the right time.
  • Support job scoping activities, providing guidance / direction on the appropriate materials and technical specifications for the various assets critical to the operation ensuring work request are ready to schedule.
  • Participate in daily action plans to solve specific problems on equipment hindering safety, quality or performance of the machine. Ensure feedback loop to operators is current and available.
  • Align technical resources required in the event of breakdown situations.
  • Support and lead paper machine testing and quality control, developing internal trial plans, ensuring Health and Safety standards are upheld throughout.
  • Challenge and minimize equipment efficiency losses pertaining to planned down time, rejects & speed. Develop and maintain operational centerlines.
  • Prepare written approval requests for capital or special maintenance projects and ensure their implementation.
  • Assume some of the responsibilities for the Operations Lead in his/her absence and is on call in instances of situational escalations.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Knowledge of the Pulp and Paper manufacturing process
  • Strong sense of time management and quality control
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions in critical situations
  • Proficiency with various computer programs, including Microsoft® Office Suite

The starting range for this role is $72,000 to $96,000 or higher, depending on your experience.
