Electrical Project Engineer

Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the Electrical Project Engineer will have primary responsibility for coordinating capital investments to improve equipment and product quality, reduce production and energy consumption costs, and improve the health and safety of our workers.

What you can expect…

Project Management

  • Assume responsibility for the management of capital projects under your supervision, including feasibility studies, cost studies, installation, modification, start-up, and post-start-up follow-up.
  • Prepare technical plans and specifications in collaboration with other team members and/or with the help of external consultants while respecting the company’s needs and allocated budget. Consider the impacts on the health and safety of workers, the environment, etc.
  • Analyze bids, make recommendations, develop and help present business case to senior management.
  • Prepare contractual documents in accordance with the technical specifications.
  • Manage project procurement and relationships with vendors.
  • Monitor and manage cost and schedule to budget
  • Oversee installation and startup of projects, while ensuring safety of project workers, contractors and staff
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of all new installations
  • Develop comprehensive project documentation for handover to operations and maintenance.
  • Analyze bids, make recommendations, and prepare contractual documents in accordance with the technical specifications.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to Maintenance personnel to correct and resolve problems affecting the reliability, productivity and safety of equipment.
  • Provide Electrical Engineering technical support for other Engineers' capital projects, and for Maintenance and Operations projects.

Training and Reporting

  • Provide training on the use of new equipment to employees and write monthly progress reports for projects under your management.

Safety and Compliance

  • Know and follow safe work procedures including Arc-Flash and Lock-Out. Identify and communicate to your supervisor the hazards and risks present in your workplace

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Instrumentation and Control
  • Member in good standing of Engineers and Geoscientists BC
  • 5-10 years of experience, in an industrial environment is an asset
  • Good knowledge of electrical power supply systems and industrial process control such as transformer stations, starters, variable frequency drive systems, PLCs, instrumentation,
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project software

The starting range for this role is $91,000 to $120,000 or higher, depending on your experience.
